Welcome to DEMISTIFIED’s home of electronic cigarette science, for experts and non-scientists alike.

We recognize that there is a lot of conflicting information and interpretation of the facts associated with electronic cigarettes, so we have created this area to present some basic facts and references that “deMISTify” some of the confusion that currently exists.

E-Cigarrete Ingredients

Electronic cigarettes work by heating a liquid and producing a vapor. The liquid generally contains Nicotine (in varying amounts), Propylene Glycol, or Vegetable Glycerol, which act as an Excipient, and some flavorings.

Electronic cigarettes do not contain tobacco, do not produce smoke and do not produce the thousands of chemicals in tobacco smoke.

Does this mean that electronic cigarettes are “harm free”? We can’t say that, but we can say that electronic cigarettes are likely to be significantly safer than cigarettes and other tobacco products.

So what is in an E-Cigarette?

Nicotine Science

Conventional cigarettes burn tobacco to release nicotine and in the process produce thousands of other chemicals in the smoke; many of which have been identified as “harmful, or potentially harmful.”

Combustion, the process by which tobacco is burnt, is the same process that a car uses to combust gasoline which also produces toxic emissions.

In fact, because both are combusting organic matter, many of the same chemicals are released as a result. Imagine sucking on the exhaust of your SUV!

The smoke that carries the nicotine is more dangerous than the nicotine.

E-Cigarette health

If you are a smoker, many harmful combusted chemicals pass into your body every time you inhale tobacco smoke.

Over time, they will probably have a serious impact on your body resulting in the development of certain diseases, such as cancer and have other effects, such as reducing your ability to fight off infections and illnesses.

The best thing you can do is to never smoke.

However, if you are a smoker and you want to continue to get nicotine, the best thing you can do for yourself and your loved ones, is quit tobacco and move to electronic cigarettes.
